Charred Paint

Virtually at the instant of the burst, the house front became covered with a thick black smoke. There was, however, no sign of flame. Very shortly thereafter, but before the arrival of the blast wave, i.e., within less than 2 seconds from the explosion, the smoke ceased. Ignition of the wood did not occur.
