Mark 5 Nuclear Weapon
The Mk 5 was the first attempt to develop a smaller, lighter strategic nuclear weapon. The smaller diameter bomb facilitated aircraft delivery and range. A reduced size also meant that it was easier to maintain, test and assemble.
The Mk 5 could be carried by U.S. Air Force B-29, B-36, B-50 and B-52 bombers. U.S. Navy AJ, A2J and A3D attack planes could also carry the weapon.
