Suitcase

Suitcase struck by the heat ray
Donor: Tadayori Kihara, courtesy of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

Tadayori Kihara (then, 50) was exposed when he rode his bicycle onto the Kyobashi Bridge and thrown down on the walkway. His entire back was severely burned, and his arms were burned so badly that most of the skin peeled off. This suitcase he carried behind his bicycle seat also bears burns from the heat ray. He survived and lived another 22 years, treasuring this suitcase.
