No. 30 Mitchell Oxidizer Vaporizer

The propellant transfer system (PTS) employed a closed loop of tanks and pipes to minimize the venting of fuel and oxidizer vapors while loading or unloading propellant on the missile. Still, after PTS operations were completed, it was necessary to purge the pipes involved in the process. The fuel vent stack was located northeast of the oxidizer hardstand. It was just a vertical pipe some 20 ft (6 m) tall. Vapors resulting from fuel line purging were routed to this tall pipe and vented to the atmosphere unburned.
Vapors from the oxidizer lines were mixed with propane and burned from a flare stack just southwest of the oxidizer hardstand. The burner unit was brought to the complex only as required.
