Mk 5
The Mk 5 was the first attempt to develop a smaller, lighter strategic nuclear weapon. The smaller diameter bomb facilitated aircraft delivery and range. A reduced size also meant that it was easier to maintain, test, and assemble.
The Mk 5 could be carried by U.S. Air Force: B-29, B-36, B-50, and B-52 bombers. U.S. Navy: AJ, A2J, and A3D attack planes could also carry the weapon.
