United Kingdom's Nuclear Tests
There were 45 British nuclear tests from 1952 through 1991. Early atomic tests were conducted in Monte Bello Island, Australia, then at Emu Field and Maralinga. Later testing was done at Christmas Island in the Pacific. With the signing of the 1958 US–UK Mutual Defence Agreement, British nuclear testing would conducted at the Nevada Test Site in the United States .
